The Sangardak tourism complex attracts visitors with its unique natural environment, mountain scenery, picturesque landscapes and waterfall. It is a promising destination for domestic and international travellers seeking nature-based recreation, ecotourism and outdoor activities.
A total of 152 projects are planned for implementation within the Sangardak tourism centre. To date, 37 facilities have been commissioned, including guest houses, bungalows and chalets, restaurants, ayvans, a zipline, swings and other tourism infrastructure. In addition, Austrian company Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH has built a modern 1,535-metre-long cable car, which is already operating for visitors. Once the project is fully implemented, the destination will have the capacity to accommodate up to 800,000 tourists annually.
During the press tour, media representatives also visited the Khonjiza ethnotourism zone, where they learned about the distinctive customs, national values and traditional way of life of the local population. More than ten modern wooden cottages have been built and commissioned in the area. Visitors of all ages can also enjoy a zipline, a suspension bridge and other recreational activities.
For travellers from neighbouring Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, destinations of this kind offer an opportunity not only to enjoy scenic landscapes but also to discover Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage and renowned hospitality.
The programme placed particular emphasis on tourism development in Surkhandarya Region, making effective use of existing resources, enhancing the region’s appeal and promoting new tourist routes. Participants were also introduced to opportunities for increasing tourist arrivals through wider promotion of the region’s natural and ethnographic attractions.
The press tour gave journalists first-hand insight into Surkhandarya’s tourism potential. Media coverage and online publications resulting from the visit are expected to help raise awareness of the region’s unique destinations, support domestic tourism and promote Surkhandarya as an attractive destination for both domestic and international travellers.
