The discussions focused on strengthening friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Poland, expanding cultural and educational ties between their peoples, and developing cooperation in tourism.
During the meeting, the Polish delegation was briefed on Uzbekistan’s rich historical, cultural and Islamic heritage, as well as ongoing efforts to develop pilgrimage tourism. Particular attention was paid to opportunities to promote among Poland’s Muslim communities the scholarly and spiritual legacy of great thinkers such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, Imam Tirmidhi and Bahauddin Naqshband, alongside the historical monuments and sacred sites of Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent.
Special emphasis was placed on the international significance of the Centre for Islamic Civilisation, which has commenced its activities in Tashkent. It was noted that the Centre plays an important role in presenting Uzbekistan’s rich scholarly and spiritual heritage to the international community, fostering dialogue between different peoples and cultures, and raising awareness of the country’s potential for pilgrimage tourism.
During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism opportunities more widely in Poland and increase coverage in local media and on digital platforms of the country’s historical and cultural heritage, pilgrimage sites and modern tourism routes. They also explored the possibility of organising familiarisation trips to Uzbekistan for Polish bloggers and media representatives to showcase the country’s tourism potential to a wider audience, arranging B2B meetings between tourism businesses from the two countries, and increasing the frequency of flights on the Warsaw–Tashkent–Warsaw route.
Both sides expressed their mutual interest in developing pilgrimage tourism, establishing practical cooperation between Muslim communities in Poland and representatives of Uzbekistan’s tourism industry, and organising joint initiatives to promote the country’s tourism opportunities.
Following the meeting, the Polish side was invited to participate in the international tourism fair scheduled to take place in Tashkent in November this year.
