Currently, Turkish Airlines operates 42 flights per week to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Urgench. For transit passengers travelling via Istanbul, the airline offers two complimentary services: Touristanbul, a free Istanbul city tour for passengers with a transit time of 6 to 24 hours, and Stopover in Istanbul, complimentary hotel accommodation for passengers holding an international round-trip ticket and with a transit time of at least 20 hours. These services create additional opportunities to attract tourists from Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Africa to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed using Turkish Airlines’ extensive international route network via Istanbul, as well as its five destinations in Uzbekistan, to increase tourist arrivals from Europe and the Americas. In this regard, they emphasised the need to first analyse passenger flows by individual source market, agree on special tourism fares from priority cities, and jointly launch ready-made tour packages allowing travellers to enter Uzbekistan through one city and depart from another.
The sides also agreed to further explore European markets, including Amsterdam, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, Prague and Budapest, and to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism opportunities through roadshows in cooperation with Uzbek tour operators.
In addition, the sides agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkish Airlines at the end of October this year.
The parties also agreed to organise a business breakfast in Tashkent with the participation of local tour operators and Turkish Airlines representatives, hold “Days of Bukhara” in Türkiye, and implement joint marketing campaigns to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in international markets.
