The forum was organised with the participation of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Indonesia. Representatives of tourism and Umrah associations, tour operators, travel companies and tourism businesses from both countries took part in the event.
The forum featured presentations on Uzbekistan’s tourism opportunities, the cities of the Great Silk Road and the country’s rich Islamic heritage. Particular attention was given to pilgrimage routes associated with the legacy of Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Maturidi, Imam al-Tirmidhi and Bahauddin Naqshband.
One of the key topics of discussion was the “Umrah Plus Uzbekistan” programme, which combines an Umrah pilgrimage with visits to historical and pilgrimage sites in Uzbekistan. Under the programme, until the end of 2026, eligible tour operators attracting tourists through the “Umrah Plus” programme will receive a subsidy of USD 100 for each tourist.
During G2B and B2B meetings, the participants discussed the development of joint travel packages, promotion of pilgrimage routes, cooperation between tour operators and increasing tourist arrivals. Memorandums of cooperation were signed with the Indonesian associations AMPHURI and ASTAGATRA.
The participants also discussed establishing cooperation between “Centrum Holidays”, “Xorazm Umra Jamiyati”, “Family Mandarin”, “Musaffo turizm xizmati”, “Ziyarah Travel Official” and “BAIA Transport” and Indonesian partners, as well as prospects for launching direct air services between Uzbekistan and Indonesia.
The forum in Jakarta marked another important step towards promoting the “Umrah Plus Uzbekistan” programme, developing joint travel packages and increasing tourist arrivals from Indonesia to Uzbekistan.
