Designers and artists of national tourism souvenirs recognised

The jury selected the 10 best designs and sketches from more than 600 entries. The winners were honoured at an event dedicated to 27 September — World Tourism Day.
The competition was jointly organised by the Tourism Committee, the “Hunarmand” Association and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. Its goal is to promote traditional handicrafts as modern tourism souvenirs and support the creative potential of artisans from the regions. During the first stage, designers, artists and other creative professionals submitted sketches and design concepts for souvenir products across 25 areas of handicraft. Each winner received a cash prize of UZS 12.5 million.
Winners of the first stage:
Otajon Abduhakimov — macramé and hand-weaving products;
Dilbar Ismoilova — wood carving;
Sardorbek Pulatov — souvenir products;
Asliddin Bozorov — miniature art products;
Gulnora Azimova — gold embroidery;
Laylo Zoirova — traditional dolls and toys;
Zakirjon Khalmatov — printed fabrics and embroidered products;
Javohir Ziyodullaev — stone and bone carving;
Danil Sanatulin — souvenir products;
Sardorbek Pulatov — products made using metal embossing and copper craftsmanship techniques.
The 10 winning designs and sketches will be handed over to artisans for production during the second stage of the competition.
