Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The meeting highlighted the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Türkiye, as well as the attention paid by the two countries’ leaders to the development of tourism and the expansion of humanitarian exchanges between their peoples.

The sides exchanged views on giving new impetus to bilateral tourism cooperation, sharing experience and implementing joint projects. In particular, they discussed the possibility of applying Türkiye’s experience in Uzbekistan in areas such as tourism management, development of tourism areas, modern hotel infrastructure and the use of digital technologies.

Proposals were also put forward to establish and expand direct cooperation between tour operators in Uzbekistan and Türkiye, as well as to organise tourism forums and B2B meetings.

With regard to tourism infrastructure development, the sides discussed opportunities for constructing modern hotel complexes in Uzbekistan’s regions with the participation of Turkish investors, as well as attracting Turkish international hotel brands to the country.

Particular attention was also paid to further strengthening partnerships with Turkish Airlines and other Turkish airlines, as well as expanding the geographical coverage and capacity of air connectivity between the two countries.

To support professional training in tourism, develop scientific and practical cooperation, and prepare project master plans, a proposal was put forward to establish cooperation between Cappadocia University and the State Institution “Project Office for Tourism Infrastructure Development” under the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The initiative envisages implementing joint projects and involving specialised experts. The Turkish side supported the proposal.

The meeting also focused on promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in the Turkish market. In this regard, the sides proposed establishing cooperation between Türkiye’s national public broadcaster TRT, the Tourism Promotion and Development Agency of Türkiye (TGA), and relevant organisations in Uzbekistan; organising media and press tours; and making effective use of digital platforms, bloggers and mass media.

In particular, the sides discussed the transformation of preserved “Uzbek caravanserais” in Türkiye into tourism and cultural centres of Uzbekistan and their use as platforms for promoting the country’s rich and diverse tourism potential.

The sides also considered opportunities to implement joint media projects aimed at promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential among Turkish audiences, including in the field of pilgrimage tourism, the promotion of the heritage of Imam al-Bukhari and the activities of the Centre of Islamic Civilization, as well as through films and television series.

The meeting also addressed the implementation of joint tourism and education projects with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), as well as opportunities to attract grant funding.

The sides discussed in detail the organisation of events aimed at further developing cooperation within the framework of the 31st Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road”, which will be held in Tashkent on 25–27 November 2026.

In particular, proposals were put forward to hold another meeting of the Joint Commission on Tourism “Uzbekistan–Türkiye” during the fair, invite representatives of Türkiye’s tourism industry to participate with a national pavilion, and ensure Türkiye’s participation as a partner country in the “Invest Forum”.

It was noted that the initiatives put forward during the meeting are aimed at further increasing tourist flows between the two countries, expanding investment cooperation, developing air connectivity, and strengthening the exchange of best practices and innovative approaches in tourism.
