Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee noted that the Treaty on Eternal Friendship, signed by the heads of the two states on August 23 this year during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan, is of great importance for further strengthening the relations of friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Ambassador Mammadov noted that Azerbaijan pays particular attention to the development of ski and health tourism. In particular, he briefed the Uzbek side on plans to develop the Kalbajar district as one of the promising destinations for ski tourism, as well as on the activities of a number of health resorts and hotels specializing in health tourism in the city of Naftalan.

The parties exchanged views on increasing mutual tourist flows between the two countries, promoting their tourism potential more extensively, and further intensifying direct contacts between representatives of the tourism industries. In this regard, an agreement was reached to establish direct dialogue and develop cooperation between the trade unions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in the field of tourism.

The meeting also highlighted the positive results of joint projects implemented in the tourism sector. In particular, it was noted that in October 2025, the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan jointly organized roadshows for tourism industry representatives in a number of European cities as part of the “Highlights of the Silk Road” project. In order to continue cooperation in this area, the parties agreed to hold another series of joint roadshows in four European countries in October this year.

In addition, the parties agreed to organize reciprocal familiarization tours for tour operators, media representatives, and bloggers from Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as to hold B2B meetings between representatives of the private sectors of the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Rashad Mammadov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, were invited to attend the Tashkent International Tourism Fair (TITF–2026), which will take place on November 25–27 this year. They were also invited to the opening ceremony of the “2027 International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism,” which will be held as part of the fair in cooperation with UN Tourism.
