As part of the festival, the official opening ceremony of Atlas Bayrami and the Made in Uzbekistan exhibition were held at the “Pearl of the Valley” — Burhaniddin Margilani Scientific, Educational and Tourism Complex in Margilan. The programme also features a crafts fair, traditional festivities and a variety of performances, including appearances by askiya performers and dorboz artists.

The festival programme includes an international conference on “Traditional Textiles as an Important Segment of the Creative Industry”, masterclasses on traditional textiles and carpet weaving, as well as a fashion show held as part of a mentoring programme on innovative design.

International training sessions in handicrafts, ethno-design and entrepreneurship have also been organised in Margilan as part of Atlas Bayrami. The sessions bring together international trainers and industry experts.

Particular attention during the training is being paid to combining contemporary fashion trends with traditional national fabrics, creating collections and ethnic brands, incorporating ancient embroidery techniques and traditional ornaments into contemporary creative work, as well as developing entrepreneurial skills in the handicraft sector.

Margilan has long been renowned for its atlas and adras fabrics, silk and silk products, as well as its rich traditions of craftsmanship and weaving. Today, the city’s craft centres continue to produce traditional fabrics using time-honoured techniques, which are then used to create contemporary clothing and a wide range of applied art products.

In this regard, hosting Atlas Bayrami in Margilan is closely aligned with the city’s historical and cultural identity and its rich handicraft heritage, contributing to the further promotion of Margilan as one of the international centres of cultural and ethnographic tourism.

During the festival, international guests and domestic tourists have an opportunity to learn more about Margilan’s traditional textile craftsmanship, observe the production of national fabrics, discover the work of local artisans and explore examples of applied art that combine traditional motifs with contemporary design.

Visits by international participants to Margilan not only contribute to the exchange of experience and creative ideas in the handicraft sector, but also provide an important platform for showcasing the city’s tourism potential to international audiences, promoting new cultural tourism products and expanding international cooperation.
