During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on ICAO’s activities, the organisation’s role in the development of international civil aviation, and the current state of cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Nicolas Rollo noted that, as a specialised agency of the United Nations, ICAO coordinates cooperation among 193 states in the field of civil aviation and develops international aviation standards and recommended practices.
It was noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan’s aviation sector has become one of the fastest-growing areas in Central Asia. Cooperation between ICAO and the Government of Uzbekistan is steadily strengthening, with practical efforts under way to improve the country’s airport infrastructure, introduce modern technologies and implement innovative solutions.
The meeting also highlighted the important role of civil aviation in tourism development. In particular, expanding the geography of international air connections, creating favourable conditions for operating flights and improving the quality of airport services will contribute to increasing international tourist arrivals to Uzbekistan, opening up new tourism markets and further promoting the country’s tourism potential internationally.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint efforts and expand cooperation in developing tourism in Uzbekistan, increasing international tourist flows and further strengthening interaction between the aviation and tourism sectors.
