The meeting, chaired by Abdulaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee, focused on developing domestic tourism, expanding opportunities for people to travel within the country, and increasing employment by developing tourism services in mahallas.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department for Ensuring Tourism Safety, the Association of Mahallas, as well as tourism organisations operating in the domestic tourism sector.
The participants discussed ways to expand opportunities for domestic travel, increase tourist flows between regions, and develop accessible and convenient tourism services. In particular, proposals were considered to launch direct flights from the regions of the Fergana Valley to Samarkand, Bukhara and Khorezm, as well as to expand transport services.
Proposals were also put forward to broadly promote the country’s tourism potential among the population, including historical and cultural heritage sites, natural areas and new tourism products, while further popularising domestic travel destinations.
The meeting also considered the possibility of launching a pilot project to organise trips for residents of the Fergana Valley to Samarkand and Bukhara via the territory of Tajikistan using ID cards, with the development of convenient travel routes and coordination of transport services.
Particular attention was paid to ensuring road safety during trips involving children and students, strengthening transport controls and simplifying organisational procedures.
Following the meeting, tasks were identified to study the proposals put forward jointly with the relevant ministries and agencies and to develop practical measures for further developing domestic tourism and organising travel for the population.
