Indonesian investors interested in expanding tourism projects in Uzbekistan

During the meeting, the parties discussed areas of cooperation in tourism, including the launch of direct air connections from Indonesia to Samarkand and Bukhara Region, as well as the implementation of projects to develop new hotels and open a restaurant offering Indonesian national cuisine.
For reference: Cooperation has been established with EGI Resources on the implementation of investment and hotel projects in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector. Agreements have been reached on the company’s management of Hadith Hotel Al Bukhori in Samarkand, the implementation of the Meccah Hotel project in Tashkent, and the launch of Kampoeng Indonesia Hotel.
The meeting also included an initiative to organize a familiarization tour for Indonesian tour operators in order to increase tourist flows from Indonesia to Uzbekistan and promote the country’s tourism opportunities more widely.
The negotiations continued during a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee S. Tadjiev and Ivel Sastra, Head of EGI Media, part of the EGI Resources group.
The meeting focused on promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in Indonesia and further developing tourist exchanges between the two countries.
In particular, it was proposed to conduct surveys and analytical studies to identify the tourism interests and preferences of Indonesian audiences before launching large-scale advertising and information campaigns.
The parties also discussed opportunities to promote pilgrimage, cultural, gastronomic and other types of tourism in Uzbekistan through popular social media platforms and media channels in Indonesia. Particular attention was given to promoting large-scale cultural events and concerts featuring renowned artists as tourism products.
To further develop pilgrimage tourism, the organization of press tours to Uzbekistan for popular Indonesian influencers was proposed.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation members were invited to participate in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair (TITF-2026).
