Kashkadarya offers two completely different experiences in a single trip: the thousand-year-old history of Shahrisabz and the fresh mountain air of Miraki. The four-day itinerary combines visits to UNESCO-listed monuments, an introduction to local cuisine and relaxation at the foot of the Gissar Mountains.
Days 1–2: Shahrisabz
In the city’s historic center, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, you can explore the Ak-Saray Palace, built by order of Amir Timur, the Dor us-Saodat and Dor ut-Tilavat complexes dating back to the Timurid era, as well as the Kok-Gumbaz Mosque, built in the 15th century. You can end the day with a walk around the city and visits to local craft workshops.
Among the local specialties, be sure to try juicy lamb tandoor kebab, Shahrisabz-style plov cooked with flaxseed oil, and Kashkadarya samsa made with flaky pastry.
Days 3–4: Miraki
Located at the foot of the Gissar Range, approximately 30 km from the center of Shahrisabz District — a 40–50-minute drive — the Miraki recreation and tourism mahalla is known for its picturesque landscapes and clean mountain air. More than 120 guest houses and around 19 hotels operate here, along with the Miraki Sanatorium and Lochin Health Camp.
The next day can begin with an eco-trail along the Aksu River, followed by a visit to the Gissarak Reservoir, where you can enjoy scenic views from a suspension bridge, and the 84-meter Suttushar Waterfall.
For those seeking an active getaway, the Gissar State Reserve is an excellent destination. The final day can be devoted to peaceful relaxation in the mountains — a perfect way to recharge before the start of the working week.
