The “Solo Travel Index 2026” covers 26 countries, with Uzbekistan ranking among the top five, alongside such popular destinations as Italy, Japan and Portugal.
In compiling the ranking, experts considered booking trends, traveler feedback, the Global Peace Index, visa accessibility, meal costs and biodiversity indicators.
“Uzbekistan has emerged as one of the unique destinations along the Great Silk Road, with growing interest among American travelers following the introduction of 30-day visa-free entry for U.S. citizens. The country’s rich history, unique landscapes and developed tourism infrastructure make it an attractive destination for adventure enthusiasts,” the Much Better Adventures publication notes.
The ranking also highlights opportunities to hike from one village to another in the Nuratau Mountains, follow ancient trails, experience local ways of life and stay overnight in traditional yurts. A journey across the Kyzylkum Desert to Lake Aydarkul can also offer travelers memorable and unusual experiences.
“Registan Square in Samarkand, Bukhara and other ancient cities showcase Uzbekistan’s rich history and outstanding cultural heritage at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road. It is also worth noting that Uzbekistan is attracting international attention not only as a destination for historical and adventure travel, but also as an affordable tourism destination. The country has also been included by Condé Nast Traveler among the world’s most affordable destinations,” the publication concludes.
