Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The standard was approved and registered by Order No. 27/MSt-26 of the Institute of Standards of Uzbekistan dated August 12, 2026. It replaces the previously applicable standard Oʻz DSt 3220:2023 “Tourism Services. Accommodation Facilities. General Requirements.”

The new edition introduces the concept of a “B&B hotel” — a budget accommodation facility providing accommodation and/or breakfast services. Such hotels are permitted to have sanitary facilities serving two or more rooms located outside the rooms themselves.

To make the standard easier to apply, its requirements have been divided into several annexes depending on the type and category of accommodation facility:

* Annex A sets out requirements for hotels, specialized and individual accommodation facilities, as well as dormitories;

* Annex B establishes requirements for B&B hotels;

* Annex C contains requirements for hostels and capsule hostels.

One of the important features of the new standard is its focus on promoting Uzbekistan’s national identity and cultural heritage. In particular, hotels will now be expected to offer an “Uzbek breakfast”, as well as provide designated areas for the sale of national souvenirs and traditional handicrafts.

Particular attention is also given to creating accessible conditions for people with disabilities. Specifically, accommodation facilities and their surrounding areas must provide special pathways with tactile paving for visually impaired people. This requirement is intended to make hotel infrastructure not only modern but also comfortable and accessible for every guest.

At the same time, a number of requirements from the previous edition have been revised. In particular, the new edition no longer includes requirements concerning electronic key locks (plastic magnetic cards) integrated with electronic systems, bicycles and tourist and sports equipment provided for temporary use, as well as requirements relating to noise levels.

The new national standard will enter into force throughout the Republic of Uzbekistan on September 12, 2026.
