Safety strengthens Uzbekistan’s tourism appeal

The country’s low level of terrorist threat is reflected in the Global Terrorism Index 2026, prepared by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). The ranking covers 163 countries, with Uzbekistan placed 96th, recording a score of 0.114, which indicates a minimal risk of terrorist activity.
International visitors feel safe while traveling throughout Uzbekistan. This is supported by the country’s comprehensive security system covering airports, railway stations, the metro network, tourist attractions, central streets, and other public spaces. As a result, Uzbekistan continues to strengthen its international reputation as a comfortable, reliable, and secure destination for travel. The cities of the Great Silk Road—Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva—along with modern Tashkent, renowned for its rich historical and cultural heritage and traditions of hospitality, attract an increasing number of foreign visitors each year.
High levels of security are also observed in other Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. The favorable environment across the region creates additional opportunities for the development of cross-border tourism, the creation of joint tourism routes, and the promotion of Central Asia as a comfortable and safe travel destination.
The results of the Global Terrorism Index 2026 further reinforce Uzbekistan’s reputation as a stable, reliable, and secure country for tourism, business, and international cooperation.
