During the discussion, it was noted that medical tourism is one of the most promising areas for the development of Uzbekistan's tourism industry. It was emphasized that the country's favorable geographical location, the expanding network of modern clinics, and the improving quality of healthcare services provide a solid foundation for increasing the number of patients seeking medical treatment in Uzbekistan from both neighboring countries and more distant markets.
Special attention was paid to the steady growth in the number of medical tourists traveling to Uzbekistan for treatment from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Turkmenistan.
Participants in the open dialogue discussed key priorities for the further development of medical tourism, including expanding cooperation with foreign medical institutions, organizing familiarization tours for tour operators and media representatives, promoting "Treatment + Travel" tourism packages, supporting domestic clinics in obtaining international accreditation, and further improving service quality and hospitality standards.
In addition, participants considered proposals to develop multilingual consultation services, expand telemedicine and online appointment systems, implement international PR campaigns, train qualified professionals for the medical tourism sector, further facilitate electronic visa procedures, and create additional conveniences for accompanying persons.
Following the meeting, the Tourism Committee and industry representatives identified priority tasks aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Uzbekistan's medical tourism sector, expanding the range of high-quality and reliable services available to international patients, and strengthening the country's position as one of the leading medical tourism destinations in the region.
