Direct flights between Almaty and Urgench to be launched

The service will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. The launch of the new air connection marks an important step toward strengthening transport connectivity between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and is expected to elevate tourism cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
The introduction of direct flights will, above all, contribute to increasing tourist arrivals from Kazakhstan to the Khorezm Region, making travel faster and more convenient while enhancing the region’s competitiveness in the international tourism market.
For centuries, Khorezm has been one of the principal centers of the Great Silk Road. Today, the region attracts visitors with its exceptional historical and cultural heritage, remarkable architectural monuments, and rich national traditions. Among its most renowned attractions are the ancient city of Khiva and the Ichan Kala walled city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the region’s traditional handicrafts, authentic Uzbek cuisine, and renowned hospitality.
To support the launch of the new route, a comprehensive promotional campaign has been launched in Kazakhstan. Special marketing materials highlighting the tourism potential of the Khorezm Region have been prepared to introduce travelers to its rich historical and cultural heritage, modern tourism infrastructure, and diverse opportunities for pilgrimage, cultural, and gastronomic tourism.
