During the talks, the parties discussed in detail the further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia in the field of tourism, the increase of mutual tourist flows, the creation of joint tourism products, and their promotion in the international market.
Special attention was given to studying best practices in tourism statistics management. In particular, the sides agreed to establish cooperation in sharing experience on the formation of inbound and domestic tourism statistics, as well as methodologies for conducting sample surveys of tourists at airports and border crossing points.
In addition, modern mechanisms for stimulating inbound tourism were considered, including government support measures for the tourism industry through tax incentives. The Uzbek side expressed interest in closely studying Georgia’s successful practices of value-added tax (VAT) refunds and the application of a zero VAT rate for tour operators, as well as analyzing the effectiveness in increasing tourist flows.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the development of mountain tourism, wine tourism, and gastronomic tourism. Considering Georgia’s successful experience in these areas, possibilities were discussed for organizing expert exchanges, as well as involving Georgian specialists as consultants in the implementation of promising tourism projects in Uzbekistan.
Furthermore, an agreement was reached on organizing mutual press tours for representatives of the media, bloggers, and opinion leaders, as well as on regular participation in major international tourism exhibitions, forums, and other prestigious events held in Uzbekistan and Georgia.
As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to continue systematic practical work aimed at increasing mutual tourist exchanges, actively promoting national tourism products on the international market, implementing joint tourism projects, and developing long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation.
