During the meeting, the parties discussed further expansion of cooperation in the field of tourism between the two countries, the development of systematic interaction between tour operators, active promotion of Uzbekistan’s rich tourism potential in the Georgian market, as well as attracting foreign tourists visiting Georgia to Uzbekistan as an additional travel destination.
The participants considered a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening practical cooperation in the tourism sector. In particular, they discussed organizing regular B2B meetings within international tourism exhibitions and forums, assigning reliable incoming Uzbek tour operators to Georgian tour operators, as well as developing and strengthening mutual business ties.
Special attention was given to the development and promotion in the Georgian market of new tourism programs covering Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Tashkent, and routes along the Great Silk Road, as well as the creation of modern tourism products in the fields of cultural, gastronomic, wine, and eco-tourism.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties reached concrete agreements on organizing mutual familiarization visits of Uzbek and Georgian tour operators in order to gain a deeper understanding of tourism products, as well as on conducting seminars, presentations, and workshops for travel agency networks. In this regard, it was agreed that in August of this year, a special familiarization trip (FAM trip) to Uzbekistan will be organized for leading Georgian tour operators and travel agents.
In addition, the Chairperson of the Georgian Tourism Association, Natalie Kvachantiradze, and representatives of leading tourism companies of the country were invited to participate in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair, which will take place in November this year.
The implementation of these initiatives will allow tourism cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia to reach a new level, increase mutual tourist flows, create new travel routes, and strengthen a long-term and sustainable partnership between the tourism businesses of the two countries.
