The event, jointly organized by the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Association of Umrah Pilgrimage Travel Agencies of Uzbekistan, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, and several Malaysian tourism organizations, served as an important platform for establishing new partnerships between tourism industry representatives from both countries.
Around ten tourism companies and hotels from Uzbekistan, primarily specializing in pilgrimage tourism, participated in the event. They held B2B meetings with more than 30 international tourism companies from Malaysia and other countries.
During the negotiations, Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, sacred sites associated with Islamic civilization, and the country’s modern tourism infrastructure were presented. Particular attention was given to the advantages of tourism products that combine the performance of Umrah in Saudi Arabia with pilgrimage and cultural tours across Uzbekistan for Malaysian travelers.
As a result of the meetings, agreements were reached to attract more than 2,000 tourists from Malaysia to Uzbekistan during the initial phase. The parties also discussed the development of joint travel packages, increasing tourist exchanges, and further expanding cooperation in the field of pilgrimage tourism.
This event contributes to strengthening Uzbekistan’s position in the Southeast Asian tourism market, enhancing the country’s attractiveness as an international travel destination, and expanding exports of pilgrimage tourism services.
