Tourist safety and insurance system improvements discussed with business representatives

During the meeting, participants discussed the role of insurance in safeguarding Uzbek citizens traveling abroad, as well as domestic tourists exploring destinations within the country. They also reviewed the effectiveness of existing insurance arrangements and considered ways to further improve them.
The event brought together representatives of insurance companies, tour operators, travel agencies, and the National Agency for Prospective projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The parties exchanged views on insurance services provided to tourists, protection mechanisms included in travel packages, and international best practices applied in this field.
In addition, participants put forward proposals aimed at strengthening the protection of tourists’ rights and legitimate interests, as well as simplifying procedures for accessing insurance services in the event of accidents, medical emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances during travel.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Tourism Committee A. Akkulov emphasized that creating a safe and sustainable tourism environment remains one of the key priorities of state policy. He also highlighted the importance of further strengthening cooperation between government institutions, the private sector, and insurance organizations to achieve this goal.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to consolidate and further develop proposals on the digitalization of tourism insurance services, expanding opportunities for obtaining insurance policies online, improving tourist awareness and information systems, and enhancing the regulatory framework of the sector in line with international standards.
