Uzbekistan expands international cooperation in the field of tourism

During the meeting, Uzbekistan’s large-scale reforms in the tourism sector were presented in detail, along with the favorable conditions being created for the development of modern tourism infrastructure. The parties separately noted efforts to transform tourism into one of the key drivers of the country’s economy.
During the talks, representatives of the World Bank presented the organization’s priority areas of activity, its international experience, as well as major projects implemented in various countries.
It was also noted that 35 districts and cities in Uzbekistan with high tourism potential have been selected, and a strategic development program through 2050 is being developed with the participation of World Bank experts. This program includes priorities such as the development of tourism infrastructure, increasing employment, diversifying the economy, and creating new jobs.
At the end of the meeting, both sides emphasized that this cooperation would contribute to more effective utilization of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential, sustainable regional development, and improved well-being of the population.
