The articles note that Central Asia has historically been the homeland of great scholars, among whom Imam Bukhari holds a special place in the history of Islamic civilization. His work “Sahih al-Bukhari” is regarded as one of the most important sources after the Quran.
The article provides a detailed account of the life and scholarly activity of Imam Bukhari, his outstanding contribution to the science of hadith, his journeys in pursuit of knowledge, and his training of students. Special attention is given to the history of the complex located near Samarkand, its restoration, and the large-scale construction work carried out in recent years.
It is emphasized that since 2018, on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, the complex has been reconstructed and expanded to include a modern mosque, museum, hotels, and infrastructure facilities, forming a major cultural and pilgrimage center.
According to Turkish media, today the Imam Bukhari complex is not only a place of pilgrimage but also an important spiritual, scholarly, and cultural center contributing to the study of Islamic history and scientific heritage.
Particular attention is paid to infrastructure development: modern conditions for pilgrims have been created on the adjacent territory of 15 hectares. Hotels, service facilities, and support centers have been built here, including one four-star and two three-star hotels, as well as 22 family guest houses with a capacity of 176 people and a parking area. As a result, the complex’s capacity has increased from 12,000 to 65,000 visitors per day.
The complex itself covers an area of 45 hectares and includes a large mosque designed to accommodate 10,000 people, an administrative building, and a monumental iwan in national style with 154 columns. It also features 14 blue domes and four 75-meter minarets, giving the structure a majestic appearance.
