Issues of developing pilgrimage tourism between Uzbekistan and Indonesia were discussed

During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding cooperation, particularly in the development of pilgrimage tourism. It was noted that Uzbekistan’s rich historical and religious heritage generates significant interest in the Indonesian tourism market.
Participants were also shown a video presentation about the recently opened Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent, as well as the Imam al-Bukhari Complex in Samarkand.
As part of the discussions, special attention was given to organizing pilgrimage tours for Indonesian travelers to such sacred sites as the Mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari, the Bahauddin Naqshband Complex, and the Mausoleum of Imam Maturidi. Issues related to developing specialized tour packages, training guides, and increasing the volume of informational materials in the Indonesian language were also addressed.
Following the meeting, the parties reached preliminary agreements on strengthening cooperation, implementing joint projects, and actively promoting Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage tourism in the Indonesian market.
