Organizing a half marathon in one of the world’s most ancient cities creates additional opportunities to promote the region’s tourism potential and to foster sustained interest in Uzbekistan as a destination for active travel.
The event is aimed at developing an inclusive environment, supporting the arts, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. It brings together professional athletes, running enthusiasts, and tourists, creating a unique atmosphere of openness and international dialogue.
The race route is of particular significance, passing through Samarkand’s key landmarks. Participants and spectators will have the opportunity to see iconic heritage sites of our country — Registan Square, the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, the Shah-i-Zinda ensemble, and the Bibi-Khanym Mosque. This combination of sport and history allows visitors to experience the city’s rich heritage in a dynamic and modern format.
The half marathon program includes a 21.1 km race, as well as 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km runs, along with children’s and inclusive races. This makes the event accessible to a wide audience and contributes to the development of mass sports while engaging tourists with varying levels of fitness.
Each year, the half marathon strengthens its reputation on the global stage. The participation of international runners, media coverage, and a high level of organization make it an important event in the sports tourism calendar.
