Uzbekistan showcases its tourism potential at the 7th ECO Tourism Ministers Meeting

During the working visit, the delegation also participated in the opening ceremony of the event “Shusha – ECO Tourism Capital for 2026” and in a gastronomic festival.
Within the framework of the 7th Ministerial Meeting on Tourism, the draft “Roadmap for Expanding Tourism Services among ECO Member States for 2026–2030” was discussed, information from the ECO Secretariat on the work carried out in the field of tourism was presented, and a decision was made to designate the city of Aktau as the ECO Tourism Capital in 2030. In addition, the Shusha Declaration was adopted.
As part of the event, reforms implemented in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, joint projects with ECO member states, as well as the country’s tourism potential were presented. At the gastronomic festival, visitors were introduced to Uzbekistan’s national cuisine.
Meetings were also organized with the heads and experts of the delegations from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. During the negotiations, issues of developing bilateral cooperation, creating cross-border tourism routes, organizing mutual travel for citizens using internal identification documents, holding B2B meetings between tour operators, as well as joint information and promotional activities were discussed.
