Uzbekistan and Türkiye expand cooperation in pilgrimage tourism

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, expansion of pilgrimage tourism, as well as the effective use of Uzbekistan’s transit potential.
In the course of negotiations, the sides explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the international tourism market, including the implementation of joint projects for organizing pilgrimage (Umrah). The participants also exchanged views on developing Uzbekistan as an important transit hub in Central Asia, creating favorable conditions for foreign pilgrims, and improving service quality.
In addition, special attention was given to the following areas:
— strengthening practical cooperation within international exhibitions, including active participation in events planned in Jakarta, Tashkent, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, and Morocco, as well as organizing B2B meetings and preparing promotional materials;
— expanding transit opportunities for pilgrims from CIS countries, in particular organizing travel via Uzbekistan for citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan, including at least one-day cultural and tourism programs.
Following the meeting, the parties outlined prospects for further cooperation and reached agreements on the implementation of mutually beneficial projects.
