During the meeting, participants discussed the current situation in the tourism sector, changes in the international market, and issues related to further increasing the flow of tourists from Russia to Uzbekistan. In particular, the participants exchanged views on the geopolitical situation in the Middle East and its impact on tourism destinations.
Experts noted that there is currently a certain redistribution of demand, with Russian tourists in some cases redirecting their travel to countries in Southeast Asia.
At the same time, according to tour operators’ analysis, instability in the region also creates an opportunity to strengthen the position of Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, as safe and convenient tourist destinations. This could open additional opportunities for attracting transit tourist flows and further expanding cooperation with the Russian market.
During the dialogue, representatives of the private sector put forward a number of practical proposals and recommendations aimed at stimulating the attraction of Russian tourists. Among them, particular attention was given to further simplifying payment systems between the two countries, optimizing flight schedules and increasing the number of daytime flights, as well as developing special marketing programs tailored to the Russian market.
It was also noted that the potential of Uzbekistan’s religious and pilgrimage tourism should be actively promoted in certain regions of Russia. In addition, there is a need to expand the range of tourism products in the country, including the development of new segments such as medical, industrial, and youth tourism. Experts also emphasized the importance of conducting promotional activities in the Russian market through digital platforms popular in the country.
Following the meeting, tour operators stated that in 2026 a positive trend in the international tourism market is expected to continue, and the flow of tourists to Uzbekistan from all major markets, including the Russian Federation, is projected to increase by approximately 20%.
