In order to review the systemic reforms implemented in recent years in the tourism sector under the initiative of the Head of State, as well as the measures to attract investment, support the private sector, and improve the regulatory framework, the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited Bukhara Region on February 1–2 of this year. During the visit, he reviewed ongoing and prospective tourism projects in the region and examined ways to develop competitive tourism products and improve the region’s infrastructure.
The meeting with representatives of the region’s tourism sector was attended by the Republican working group, which included representatives from the Ministries of Economy and Finance, Transport, Poverty Reduction and Employment, the Agency for Cultural Heritage, the Agency for Increasing Forest and Green Zones and Combating Desertification, the Bukhara Regional Hokimiyat, as well as other relevant ministries and agencies. The event, held in the format of an open dialogue, brought together over 60 entrepreneurs, tour operators, guides, travel agents, artisans, and representatives of hotels, restaurants, transport companies, cultural heritage sites, and museums.
During the session, issues regarding the further development of tourism in Bukhara Region were discussed, including the effective use of existing potential in the areas of pilgrimage, historical and cultural, gastronomic, and craft tourism, the improvement of tourism infrastructure, and the enhancement of service quality.
In a presentation given by the head of the republican working group — Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, A. Akkulov — detailed information was provided on the projects implemented in Bukhara Region in 2025, as well as priority tasks for 2026. In particular, the presentation highlighted the broad opportunities for creating new tourism products based on the historic center of Bukhara, UNESCO-listed sites, pilgrimage locations, and national craft traditions.
Participants from the tourism sector noted that government-provided benefits, subsidies, and grant programs contribute to the sustainable development of the industry. At the same time, proposals and initiatives put forward by local entrepreneurs were considered important, as they aimed to further strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors in tourism.
As a result of the dialogue, specific tasks were identified for the effective development of the tourism sector across the territories of Bukhara Region, the promotion of the region’s tourism image at the international level, and the support of projects contributing to an improved standard of living for the population. It was emphasized that such meetings play a key role in the full realization of Bukhara Region’s rich tourism potential.
The next meeting will take place on February 4 in the city of Navoi, Navoi Region, at the Zarafshon Grand Hotel (6 Me’morlar Street). (For more information about the meeting, contact Shahzod Sadinov at +998 93 085-58-77).
