During the discussion, it was emphasized that the Constitution serves as the fundamental pillar strengthening our national statehood and sovereignty, the achievements attained to date, as well as all our efforts toward building a democratic, rule-of-law state. It was further noted that the Constitution is not only a legal, political, and social document, but also a key source that unites society and reflects the aspirations, rights, and interests of citizens.
In addition, speakers underscored that the revised version of the Constitution, adopted through the referendum held on April 30, 2023, has created a solid political and legal foundation for the implementation of the “New Uzbekistan” strategy and has defined the priority areas for the development of the state and society during this important historical stage in the country’s progress. It was also highlighted that the provisions enshrined in the Constitution are being consistently put into practice as the main legal basis for ongoing reforms.
Furthermore, the roundtable placed special emphasis on the relevance of the updated constitutional norms concerning environmental protection, ensuring ecological safety, the rational use of natural resources, the preservation of nature, and the development of “green economy” principles. It was stressed that these norms provide an important legal framework for ensuring environmental sustainability, guaranteeing citizens’ right to live in a healthy and safe environment, and preserving natural resources for future generations.
