Fars province is one of the largest and economically most active regions in Iran and is also considered one of the country’s oldest cultural centers. The region has significant potential not only in agriculture and industry but also in handicrafts and tourism. There are seven airports in the province, three of which are international. Due to its geographical location near the Persian Gulf, the province holds important geo-economic significance for developing tourism links with Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and other countries.
Under the leadership of Surkhandarya region hokim Ulugbek Kasimov and Fars province governor Hossein Ali Amiri, expanded bilateral negotiations were conducted between the delegations. Separate B2B meetings were also held with entrepreneurs working in the tourism sector.
During the meeting, it was noted that relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, thanks to the political will and friendly dialogue of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian, have reached a new strategic level. The parties emphasized the importance of strengthening interregional cooperation and expanding practical ties in tourism, trade and economy, investment, culture, and humanitarian relations.
The negotiations addressed prospects for cooperation in tourism, industry, mining, agriculture, food production, trade, logistics, transportation, textiles, education, medicine, pharmaceuticals, and wellness. Special attention was given to opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in tourism, higher education, and healthcare. As a result of the talks, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Surkhandarya region and Fars province.
