Khayrullo Bozorov, Governor of Fergana Region, visited the specialized water sports school in Fergana city, where he reviewed the institution's activities, the conditions provided for athletes, and the results achieved.
Currently, 179 athletes regularly train in various water sports disciplines at the school.
The school's athletes have been performing successfully in national and international competitions, achieving impressive results. In particular, in 2025, they won 34 gold, 66 silver, and 122 bronze medals at the Uzbekistan Cup and national championships.
During the elapsed period of 2026, the athletes secured 8 gold, 12 silver, and 19 bronze medals in these competitions. In addition, 27 new promising athletes have been selected since the beginning of the year.
During the visit, attention was also paid to the measures being implemented under the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 4, 2024, "On Measures for the Development of Water Sports."
In accordance with this resolution, the widespread introduction of public-private partnership mechanisms in the operation of water sports facilities is envisaged. The resolution also provides for the transition, starting January 1, 2026, of swimming pools with sufficient capacity to offer paid services to a self-financing system.
The regional governor held discussions with industry specialists on promising areas for the development of water sports, the efficient use of existing infrastructure, the creation of favorable conditions for athletes, and support for talented young people.
The responsible officials were given the necessary instructions and directives to further improve the sports school's operations, enhance the quality of training, and take the development of water sports in the region to a new level.
