The delegation members first toured the museum situated within the memorial complex. The museum features historical exhibitions dedicated to the hardships endured by the Belarusian people during the Second World War, the crimes committed by the Nazis against civilians, the villages destroyed during the war, and the memory of its victims.
For reference, on March 22, 1943, the village of Khatyn was completely destroyed by Nazi punitive units. The tragedy claimed the lives of 149 civilians, including 75 children. All 26 houses in the village were destroyed.
On July 5, 1969, the Khatyn Memorial Complex was inaugurated at the site of the tragedy. It is an important historical monument commemorating the Belarusian villages destroyed by the Nazis during the Second World War and the civilians who lost their lives.
Following their visit to the museum, the Fergana Region delegation toured the memorial complex. The delegation members viewed the "Unconquered Man" sculpture, symbolic memorials erected on the sites of the 26 destroyed houses, the "Cemetery of Villages", and other commemorative sites.
The delegation members solemnly honoured the memory of the war victims and paid their respects to those who lost their lives.
The Khatyn Memorial Complex serves as a place of historical remembrance, reminding visitors not only of the tragic past of the Belarusian people but also of the immeasurable value of peace for all humanity.
