Fergana regional administration

At the meeting, held at Fergana State University, Nodirbek Hakimov, Head of the Regional Sports Department, reported on the work carried out as part of the “Olympic Heights of New Uzbekistan” competitions and their final stage, the Presidential Olympiad, as well as participation figures and preparations.
This year, 26,993 athletes from across the region registered to compete in 21 sports in the “Olympic Heights of New Uzbekistan” competitions.
The region plans to send a delegation of 360 people to the national stage of the Presidential Olympiad, comprising 255 athletes, 95 coaches and 10 other delegation members. The athletes include 33 para-athletes.
The regional administration is providing practical assistance and financial support to ensure thorough preparations, select talented athletes and help them perform well at the competitions.

Speaking at the event, Governor Khayrullo Bozorov emphasised that, at the President’s initiative, considerable attention has been paid to developing physical education and sport, alongside all other sectors, from the very beginning of the reforms. He noted that the Presidential Olympiad, launched last year as an entirely new system for identifying the most talented young people and guiding them into high-level sport, has become an important platform for young athletes.
The Presidential Olympiad gives young people opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and take confident steps from their local mahallas towards high-level sport. Starting the competitions at the grassroots level plays an important role in identifying talented young people and helping them realise their potential.
The governor urged the athletes to set ambitious goals and work hard to achieve victory.
“Set your sights high and strive for victory! You must work hard starting today, with the goal of representing our country with distinction at the Olympic Games and World Championships,” Khayrullo Bozorov said.
Rustam Majidov, Director of Sports School No. 2 in Beshariq District, thanked the President on behalf of athletes, coaches and parents for the opportunities being created for young people.
Young athletes also spoke at the meeting, pledging to live up to the trust placed in them and devote all their efforts and abilities to achieving strong results and flying Uzbekistan’s flag high.
