Cooperation Between the Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia: From Agreements to Concrete Projects

The meeting was attended by Khayrullo Bozorov, Hokim of Fergana Region; Mikhail Kotyukov, Governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai; as well as leaders of a number of regions of Uzbekistan and Russia.
The discussions focused on bringing interregional cooperation to a new practical level, transforming the agreements reached into concrete investment and industrial cooperation projects, and further improving the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms within the framework of the Council of Regions.
Khayrullo Bozorov, Hokim of Fergana Region, noted that the economic and investment potential of the regions of the two countries is well known, numerous cooperation agreements have been signed, and considerable experience in mutual cooperation has been accumulated.
In this regard, it was emphasized that the main focus should now shift from presenting the regions’ potential to translating the existing opportunities into concrete practical results.
Particular attention was paid to developing the Council of Regions as a permanent and effective mechanism for cooperation, shortening the path from agreements reached at the level of regional leaders to the launch of concrete projects, as well as making effective use of the existing but not yet fully utilized opportunities for interregional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia.
The leaders of the Russian regions also noted the importance of further expanding direct ties, actively engaging representatives of the business community in new joint initiatives, strengthening industrial cooperation, and implementing mutually beneficial projects.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that all the necessary opportunities and mechanisms are currently in place to further develop cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia. It was noted that the next important task is to ensure the systematic implementation of the agreements reached, transform promising initiatives into concrete projects, and accelerate their implementation.
It was noted that the meeting, held in a practical and constructive spirit, would contribute to enriching the multifaceted cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia with new projects and initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum aimed at further developing cooperation.
