The event brought together teachers and mentors from all cities and districts of the region, faculty members of higher education institutions, veterans of the education sector, and young educators.
Governor of the Fergana Region Khayrullo Bozorov addressed the gathering and warmly congratulated teachers and mentors on their professional holiday.
“Our people have long honored teachers with the saying, ‘A teacher is as revered as a father.’ These words reflect our people’s centuries-old respect for teachers and their deeply rooted spiritual values. Parents give a child life, while a teacher helps that child find their path in life,” the Governor said.
It was noted that large-scale reforms are being implemented in the education sector under the leadership of the President, while at this decisive stage in the development of New Uzbekistan, increasing attention is being paid to education and human capital. After all, people are at the heart of every reform, and education lies at the heart of human development.
“A school is not merely a building. It is a place where the future of the country is shaped. A classroom is not merely a room. It is where the outlook of tomorrow’s scientists, engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, military personnel, artists, and statesmen is formed. A teacher is a person who prepares the future of the state,” the Governor emphasized.
The Governor drew attention to the fact that during the President’s meeting with representatives of the education sector ahead of Teachers and Mentors Day, a number of new initiatives and tasks aimed at supporting the education system were outlined. He stressed the importance of ensuring their effective implementation in the Fergana Region.
It was noted that education worldwide is undergoing profound transformation. Particular emphasis is being placed on the exact sciences, while artificial intelligence, robotics, the digital economy, biotechnology, engineering, and new-generation professions are setting new requirements for young people.
Priority areas for the development of the Fergana Region’s education system in 2027 were also outlined.
In particular, emphasis was placed on the need to improve the quality of education, enhance teachers’ qualifications and professional standing, promote the experience of leading educators, strengthen mentoring for young teachers, raise the quality of foreign-language and exact-science instruction to a new level, expand knowledge of digital literacy and artificial intelligence, provide career guidance to young people based on their abilities and interests, and devote particular attention to their upbringing and personal development.
It was also stressed that, alongside preparing a generation equipped with modern professional skills, particular attention should be paid to educating young people in the spirit of national values and patriotism.
Officials were instructed to make effective use of the extensive experience of veteran educators, promote the teaching methods of leading educators, and further strengthen the traditional “Ustoz-shogird” (“Mentor-Apprentice”) system.
During the ceremony, warm wishes were extended to veteran educators, teachers, and mentors, while a group of dedicated education professionals received certificates of honor from the Fergana Regional Administration and commemorative gifts.
Artists of the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre, currently touring the Fergana Region, congratulated teachers and mentors on the occasion. Performances by renowned artists, including poetry recitals and songs, became a special festive gift for the participants.
A concert program featuring beloved artists also created a joyful and festive atmosphere for everyone in attendance.
