Fergana and Ulsan to Establish Dialogue Between Local Councils

The meeting focused on prospects for strengthening cooperation between Fergana Region and Ulsan at the level of local representative bodies and establishing direct ties between the councils of the two regions.
Khayrullo Bozorov noted that, as part of the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, the role of local Councils in public administration and governance is steadily increasing. In particular, he highlighted the separation of powers between local representative and executive authorities, the strengthening of the independence of local Councils, and their growing responsibility in addressing key issues related to regional development.
Particular attention was given to exchanging experience between the Councils of Fergana Region and Ulsan, as well as expanding inter-parliamentary and interregional dialogue. The sides also exchanged views on supporting cooperation in industry and investment, education, local governance, and sustainable regional development.
As a local representative body, the Ulsan Metropolitan Council plays an important role in discussing key issues related to the city’s socioeconomic development, adopting relevant decisions, and representing the interests of residents in local governance processes.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed mutual interest in establishing regular dialogue and practical cooperation between the local representative bodies of the two regions.
