Fergana regional administration

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on establishing and developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Fergana Region and Goyang City, as well as expanding ties in trade and economy, investment, education, tourism and other promising areas.

At the beginning of the meeting, videos showcasing the economic and investment potential of the two regions, their infrastructure, and opportunities in education, tourism and other sectors were presented.

Goyang Mayor Min Gyeong-seo described the start of studies by young people from Fergana at Jungbu University as an important step towards developing relations between the two regions. He expressed readiness to further expand cooperation and implement joint initiatives not only in education but also in the economy, investment, business, tourism and other areas.

Governor of Fergana Region Khayrullo Bozorov noted that the developing relations between Goyang City and Fergana Region would open up new opportunities for both sides. In particular, he proposed establishing direct contacts between business communities, organizing reciprocal delegation visits, developing specific investment and trade projects, and further strengthening cooperation between educational institutions.

For reference, Goyang is one of the major cities in Gyeonggi Province of the Republic of Korea and directly borders Seoul. The city covers an area of more than 268 square kilometres and has a population of over 1.07 million. Goyang is distinguished by its modern transport infrastructure, international exhibition and convention industry, media and creative industries, tourism potential, and well-developed social infrastructure. It is also home to KINTEX, one of Korea’s largest international exhibition and convention centres.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides agreed to establish a joint working group comprising representatives of both parties, develop a “roadmap” outlining specific measures, and, on this basis, consistently expand cooperation between Fergana Region and Goyang City while translating the proposed initiatives into practical action.
