Fergana regional administration

The event brought together regional officials and community representatives from cities and districts, including respected elders, distinguished workers, entrepreneurs and young people, as well as guests from the Sughd Region of Tajikistan and the Batken Region of Kyrgyzstan.

Khayrullo Bozorov, Governor of Fergana Region, addressed the ceremony and warmly congratulated the people of Fergana on Independence Day.

It was particularly emphasized that holding the celebrations at the scientific, educational and tourism complex named after Burhaniddin Marginani carries profound symbolic significance. The legacy of the great scholar embodies such noble values as justice, knowledge, law and enlightenment. Celebrating Independence Day at this venue vividly reflects the harmony between history and modern development, national heritage and the ideas of New Uzbekistan.

The Governor noted that the reforms implemented in the country under the leadership of the President, particularly over the past decade, have laid the foundation for large-scale transformations in Fergana Region as well.

In particular, over the past nine years, the region’s gross regional product has increased 1.6-fold, exceeding UZS 111 trillion. During this period, USD 8.2 billion in foreign investment was attracted, nearly 7,900 projects were implemented, and 196,000 new jobs were created. The number of small businesses increased from 18,800 to 50,700, while exports rose from USD 395 million to USD 1.3 billion. Today, products manufactured by Fergana entrepreneurs are supplied to markets in 65 countries around the world.

In agriculture, increasing attention is being paid to the introduction of modern agricultural technologies, the use of water-saving methods and the deep processing of agricultural products. Farmers, dehkan farms and clusters play an important role in ensuring food security. It is particularly encouraging that cotton yields in some fields have reached 70–80 centners per hectare.

Significant results have also been achieved in developing the region’s tourism potential. While 246,000 tourists visited Fergana in 2016, their number reached 3.8 million in 2025. Tourism service exports amounted to USD 185 million.

It was emphasized that creating new jobs, increasing household incomes, expanding opportunities for entrepreneurship and improving the well-being of families remain the key objectives of the reforms, all aimed at enhancing human dignity.

It was noted that at the ceremony dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the country’s Independence, the President outlined the key priorities for the next stage of Uzbekistan’s development and emphasized that the coming decade would become a period of national advancement for Uzbekistan.

To achieve these goals, Fergana Region will also implement a wide range of measures within the framework of seven national programs aimed at upholding human dignity and improving the well-being of the people.

The Governor also highlighted the achievements of Fergana football and outlined plans for its further development.

It was noted that the reforms being implemented under the leadership of the President to develop football, establish healthy competition and a transparent system, and strengthen the activities of football schools and academies are already producing tangible results.

In particular, it was highlighted that Neftchi Football Club became the national champion and won the Super Cup last season and remains among the leaders this season. The team’s participation in the elite stage of the AFC Champions League was described as an important milestone for Fergana football. It was also noted that efforts to establish Fergana Region as the football capital of the country will continue consistently.

At the same time, it was emphasized that even greater tasks and higher goals lie ahead for the people of Fergana. All necessary measures have been identified to make Fergana Region one of the country’s most comprehensively developed regions.

The event concluded with a theatrical festive program.

Songs and musical performances celebrating the Motherland, love and noble sentiments, performed by People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Yulduz Usmanova, People’s Hafiz of Uzbekistan Ilhom Ibrohimov, Honored Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic Samara Karimova, Jaloliddin Ahmadaliyev, Bahodir Mamajonov, Qilichbek Madaliyev, Zohirshoh Jo‘rayev, Abdujalil Qo‘qonov, G‘aybulla Tursunov, as well as other renowned performers and young talents, filled the celebration with a joyful and festive atmosphere.

The ceremony concluded with a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night sky.
