During the meeting, the governor spoke about the ongoing efforts in the country to promote reading culture, emphasizing that books are a person’s greatest friend and a priceless source of knowledge. He highly praised young people who are achieving outstanding results through reading and noted that they should serve as role models for their peers and become active promoters of reading culture. In particular, he stressed the importance of the principle of “peer-to-peer inspiration” in youth education and development.
It was also noted that many young people today are becoming overly dependent on mobile phones and social media, making it essential to widely promote reading in order to strengthen interest in books and expand the number of young readers. At the same time, the importance of using artificial intelligence effectively and responsibly was emphasized.
The achievements of young people from Fergana in various fields were highlighted with satisfaction during the event. Special attention was given to the growing number of young people interested in information technologies and startup projects.
It was also announced that the complex, established on the initiative of the President, is expected to host an International Reading Festival every two years.
During the meeting, initiatives were proposed to encourage residents and young people in Fergana to read at least 20 pages of a book per day and to further popularize reading culture.
Young readers also shared information about their projects aimed at promoting reading and expanding audience engagement. Proposals were put forward to organize meetings with young readers in cities and districts, involve more rural youth, and conduct master classes.
In addition, initiatives such as organizing competitions for “Best Father Reader” and “Best Mother Reader” received support. Proposals were also made to hold separate meetings dedicated to culture and the arts, as well as startup projects, while new ideas and initiatives were presented.
The regional governor highly appreciated the proposals and ideas put forward by the youth, emphasizing that all initiatives would be supported, responsible officials assigned, and practical assistance provided where necessary.
