Trade and Economic Cooperation Between Fergana and Afghanistan Gains Momentum

During the meeting, it was emphasized that President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is paying special attention to developing constructive and mutually beneficial relations with Afghanistan across all sectors. The growing scale of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries was also highlighted. The visit of the Afghan delegation to Fergana was noted as an important step toward strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, expanding business ties, and deepening interregional economic integration.
As part of the dialogue, views were exchanged on the outcomes of the “Fergana–Afghanistan” Business Forum. It was noted that a number of promising agreements had been reached across various sectors, and that such formats of engagement serve as a solid foundation for the implementation of joint projects.
Mohammed Arian Azimi stated that members of the delegation had familiarized themselves with key sectors of the region and emphasized that Fergana offers significant opportunities for cooperation across multiple fields. It was particularly noted that contracts worth USD 500 million were signed between entrepreneurs from both sides during the visit and within the framework of the business forum.
The meeting also discussed proposals to establish an Afghan representative office in Fergana region, as well as to develop cooperation in horticulture, food processing industries, and agriculture. Issues related to enhancing direct dialogue between entrepreneurs and increasing mutual visits were also addressed.
The regional governor highlighted that a favorable investment environment has been created in the region and expressed readiness to expand mutually beneficial and effective cooperation with Afghan business circles in all priority areas.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to further expand bilateral cooperation, including the regular exchange of entrepreneurs and official delegations.
