As one of the country’s ancient cultural centers, Kokand preserves numerous historic monuments and sacred sites. In “Huqandi Latif,” key priorities include shaping tourism routes, restoring cultural-heritage assets, and creating modern facilities for visitors. Based on the inspections, the Governor set a series of priority tasks for the tourism sector.
The review covered the historic Zinbardor Jome Mosque, the Hamza Hakimzoda House-Museum, and residential buildings from the era of the Kokand Khanate located in the Isfara guzar and Kaymoqli guzar mahallas. The condition of the Miyon Hazrat Madrasah, another ancient madrasah, and the Mukimiy Museum was also examined. Speaking with local residents about the history of these sites, the Governor instructed that selected neighborhoods be transformed into “tourism streets,” that buildings be protected and restored, craft centers established, and service infrastructure further developed.
It was noted that Kokand has many historic buildings under state protection; to use them effectively in tourism routes, a clear concept and practical action plans are needed, with special emphasis on cooperation with experts well-versed in Kokand’s history. Additional directives covered landscaping of the Kukonsoy area, efficient use of local potential, improving service quality for tourists, and engaging investors and entrepreneurs. Following the visit, instructions were issued to draft concrete measures across all tracks of the city’s socio-economic development and to review implementation on a regular basis.
