The forum brought together representatives from the Tourism Committee, Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Tourism Coordinator Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Head of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation Aftab ur Rehman Rana, the ambassadors of both countries—Alisher Tukhtaev and Ahmed Farooq—as well as leaders of industry associations from Uzbekistan and Pakistan, and representatives of more than 50 travel companies.
During the forum, it was noted that in recent years bilateral relations in the tourism sector between our countries have reached a new level. In particular, roadshow events and the “Uzbekistan-Pakistan Tourism Forum” held in major Pakistani cities, along with the launch of regular direct flights by “Uzbekistan Airways” to Islamabad and Lahore, have opened up significant opportunities to increase mutual tourist flows.
The forum also featured presentations on the tourism potential of both countries, organized B2B meetings between tourism business entities, facilitated discussions on prospects for practical cooperation, and provided comprehensive answers to participants’ questions.
As a result of the forum, an agreement was reached to enhance cooperation between private sector representatives of both countries, establish a “Network of Tourism Operators of Uzbekistan and Pakistan” to maintain ongoing dialogue and ensure timely information exchange, and implement joint initiatives aimed at achieving practical outcomes. All participants were invited to take part in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road,” scheduled to be held in November this year in Tashkent.
