Khiva hosted over a million guests at the Melon Festival

The event was organized by the Tourism Committee and the Khokimiyat of Khorezm Region, and took place in unique locations — the historic complex Itchan-Kala and the modern tourist complex Arda Khiva.
If in 2024 the festival attracted more than 500,000 visitors, including both locals and foreign tourists, then in 2025 the total number of guests exceeded 1 million, of which around 300 thousands were international tourists. This impressive growth highlighted the festival’s significance as a platform for developing agritourism and strengthening the tourism potential of the Khorezm Region.
All days of the festival were accompanied by spectacular performances from stars and a rich entertainment program that included masterclasses, exhibitions, and contests. Among the invited artists were the legendary Tokhir Sadikov, popular singer JONY, DJ Meaghan, Mustafa Ceceli, Khamdam Sobirov, Gulomzhon Yakubov, Gulsanam Mamazoitova, also during the grand closing ceremony, guests were delighted by a performance from Roza Zergerli.
19 stands represented the districts of the Khorezm Region, leading farms, and other participants showcasing dozens of melon varieties, as well as the region’s products, technologies, and achievements. Visitors had the opportunity to taste a variety of melons, interact with producers, and gain a deeper understanding of Khorezm’s agricultural traditions.
At the award ceremony, which became a vibrant highlight of the festival and attracted a wide audience, Hokim of the Khorezm Region Zhurabek Rakhimov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee Umid Shadiev, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Uzbekistan, as well as journalists from leading local and international media covering the event, were present. The festival winners were announced: fifteen organizations tied for third place, second place went to the Yangibazar district and the company JSC “UzAuto Motors,” first place was awarded to the city of Khiva, and the Grand Prix was won by Urgench.
The Melon Festival once again confirmed the high tourism potential of the Khorezm Region and became an important step toward developing agritourism and strengthening the region’s image as a modern and welcoming tourist destination.
