Uzbekistan strengthens tourism cooperation within the SCO framework

On July 7, 2025, the First Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee, Djamshid Abdusalamov, took part in the meeting of the heads of tourism administrations of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), held in Qingdao, China.

The event aimed to enhance multilateral cooperation in the field of tourism, discuss joint initiatives, and coordinate efforts to promote tourism exchanges among SCO countries.
During the meeting, key issues were addressed, including the simplification of visa procedures for tourists, the development and promotion of cross-border tourism routes, and the organization of joint cultural and tourism events.
In his speech, Djamshid Abdusalamov emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation within the SCO framework, highlighting the potential for the development of cultural, ecological, and event-based tourism. He specifically noted Uzbekistan’s successful experience in the digitalization of tourism services, aimed at improving the quality of tourist services and accessibility of information.
Special attention was given to establishing a sustainable dialogue between the tourism administrations of SCO member states, coordinating marketing strategies, and sharing analytical data on tourism markets and trends.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue active joint efforts in shaping a common tourism space within the SCO. Initiatives aimed at promoting the region as a unified and attractive tourism destination for international travelers were supported.
