Uzbekistan Appoints Tourism Brand Ambassador to South Korea

Attendees included members of the South Korean parliament, leading experts in culture and tourism, media representatives, and prominent bloggers.
The participants were introduced to the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan titled “Samarkand — the Tourism Gateway of the New Uzbekistan”, as well as to cities that embody the country's rich historical and cultural heritage, along with other unique travel destinations.
Particular attention was given to the current state and future prospects of tourism cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea. It was emphasized that such events contribute to strengthening the friendly relations between the peoples of both countries.
South Korean experts expressed high praise for the tourism reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in recent years.
TPO Secretary-General Kang Dae-Young noted that the role of tourism brand ambassador is not only an honorary title but also an opportunity to promote Uzbekistan’s rich and unique tourism potential on the international stage.
In her new capacity, Kang Dae-Young emphasized her commitment to actively promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism opportunities in global markets.
Guests of the event enjoyed traditional Uzbek music and songs. They were also treated to a variety of national dishes, including the iconic festive "plov".
The Organization for Tourism Promotion in Global Cities (TPO), founded in 2002, currently unites 131 cities across 17 countries and plays a leading role in the sustainable development of regional tourism. The city of Samarkand is also a member of TPO, which aims to accelerate the growth of the tourism industry in cities, introduce innovative approaches, and promote the exchange of experience and knowledge.
