The event was organized through the collaboration of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, Chustiy Group, the Uzbek cuisine restaurant “OshPaz” in London, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom, the Ministry of Culture, and Uzbekistan Airways JSC.
More than 100 representatives of Uzbek art and culture participated in the festival — including folk art masters, craftsmen, renowned designers, founders of national brands, tour operators, and chefs.
The festival featured presentations showcasing Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and new travel routes, artistic performances by well-known entertainers, an exhibition of handcrafted items, and a national costume fashion show. The program also included a presentation of the traditional “Lazgi” dance and a gastronomic fair dedicated to Khorezmian national dishes.
In addition, to further promote the country’s tourism opportunities, a tourism forum titled “Uzbekistan – United Kingdom” was held, along with Road Show events and B2B meetings involving Uzbek and British travel companies.
For the first time in London, the “Product of Uzbekistan” trade fair was held as part of the festival. It featured over 20 of the country’s leading exporters and showcased more than 2 tons of agricultural products grown in Uzbekistan — including fresh fruits and vegetables, legumes, melons, as well as ready-to-eat and semi-processed food products.
Renowned chefs — Bakhritdin Chustiy and Muzaffar Sodiqov, founder of the London-based “OshPaz” company — prepared a 3-ton plov (pilaf). Notably, the cauldron, stove, and all ingredients for the dish were specially brought from Uzbekistan.
To promote the festival and attract a wide audience, banners reading “Welcome to Uzbekistan” were displayed on over 10 double-decker bus routes, in metro stations, and on LED screens across central London. Information about the festival was also published in the UK’s most popular culinary magazine, “BBC Good Food”.
The “Uzbek Culture and Food Festival” plays a significant role in enhancing the international image of the country, boosting tourism exchanges, and strengthening bilateral cultural cooperation.
