This year, the festival—organized jointly by the Tourism Committee, the regional and city administrations of Bukhara, the regional tourism department, the "Hunarmand" Association, and several other organizations—was held at an even higher level and in a special atmosphere compared to previous years. The festival brought together more than 50 artisans from nearly 10 foreign countries and over 350 local craftsmen from various regions of the republic.
The "Silk and Spices" festival promotes the development of traditional national crafts, their broad international promotion, the strengthening of ties among artisans, the further growth of craftsmanship and tourism, and the transformation of Bukhara into one of the world’s tourism centers.
The festival has been held in Bukhara for more than twenty years. During this period, it has gained significant popularity among both foreign and local visitors. In particular, more than 50,000 foreign and local tourists who attended the 21st "Silk and Spices" festival described it as a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality of Bukhara.
Ahead of the festivities, a press conference was held for foreign and local media representatives who had arrived in Bukhara. During the conference, festival organizers provided information about the event program and answered questions from the press.
The first day of the festival began with a ceremonial procession of participants and guests from the Ark Fortress to the Labi Hovuz complex, followed by the official opening ceremony of the festival at the Labi Hovuz.
Performances by national ensembles as part of the 21st "Silk and Spices" festival program, as well as an international exhibition of silk products and spices from all regions of the country, left no one indifferent. Additionally, the festival showcased works by master craftsmen in Bukhara. Various masterclasses, traditional games and entertainment, and an exhibition of visual and applied arts were also held as part of the event.
A gala concert featuring young and talented performers from folk ensembles of all regions, along with a special fashion show "Silk&Spices Fashion Days" featuring both local and international designers, contributed to the festive and elevated mood of the event.
Furthermore, skilled chefs from various regions of Bukhara took part in the "Palov Sayli" national dish competition, where they demonstrated their methods of preparing plov and presented a variety of dishes that highlighted the region’s culinary potential. Each participant prepared a flavorful dish characteristic of their region and presented it to guests and jury members.
