Reforms in Uzbekistan's tourism industry presented to participants of the CIS Council of Tourism Ministers meeting in Sochi

It was emphasized that tourism in Uzbekistan has become an important factor in sustainable development and economic growth, measures are being taken to introduce "green" tourism, digitalize the industry, develop rural, medical and gastronomic tourism, support domestic destinations, environmental initiatives and digital services.
The meeting discussed the activities of the basic organization of the CIS in the field of education in tourism - the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand.
Following the meeting, initiatives were supported to declare 2025-2026 the Year of Mountain Tourism in the CIS, expand interstate tourist routes and strengthen joint projects such as the "Precious Necklace of the Commonwealth" and "Travel Hub CIS".
In addition, proposals to create a single digital platform for tourists in the CIS and maintain analytical and statistical data on tourism were approved.
As part of the meeting of the Council, with the participation of representatives of the CIS tourism sector, a meeting of experts on sustainable development of the Eurasian Alliance of Mountain Resorts, a Business Dialogue of the CIS Member States on Tourism and other events were held.
