Developed in collaboration with these international organizations, the Toolkit of Indicators for Projects (TIPs) are a comprehensive resource designed to help users align tourism development projects with the Sustainable Development Goals.
It also promotes the integration of sustainable tourism practices into policies, financial frameworks, and business operations.
By examining the Sustainable Development Goals through the lens of tourism, this guide aims to raise awareness, foster collaboration, and enhance the sector’s positive impact on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the creation of a more sustainable and inclusive future.
The objective is to demonstrate how tourism can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and how its impact can be measured using a set of indicators developed for project performance evaluation (TIPs).
The workshop also discussed the following issues.
• UN Tourism and JICA jointly developed a set of TIPs indicators to assess the contribution of tourism projects to the Sustainable Development Goals.
• TIPs provide simple and measurable indicators that can be used throughout the project period.
• The guide can be used by governments, the private sector, non-governmental organizations and local communities.
• Experiences gained in tourism villages showed how TIPs can help link project activities with the Sustainable Development Goals.
• TIPs assist in planning, monitoring and reporting, including to donors and stakeholders.
• The guide is available in English, Japanese and Spanish.
• TIPs will play a key role in 2027, the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism.
